On May 8, 2025, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, APA reports.
The meeting focused on prospects for advancing strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, the future of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as regional and global security issues.
The sides emphasized the importance of high-level exchanges, particularly the state visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam to Azerbaijan, and the adoption of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership during that visit.
They noted strong potential for cooperation in economy, trade, defense industry, energy security, transport and communication, and humanitarian fields. The need to activate mechanisms such as political consultations and the Intergovernmental Commission was highlighted to fully utilize these opportunities.
Collaboration within regional and international platforms—especially the UN, Non-Aligned Movement, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA)—was also discussed, with both sides stressing the importance of mutual support and solidarity.
The ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
